ABU is starting a movement out of Missouri. The 23 year old artist and entrepreneur had a different start in music then other artists as he started playing violin in middle school. After playing violin he would end up joining a choir where he fully fell in love with music. He loved it so much that he started working hard and singing on his own time away from choir practice. Now ABU is a rapper, singer, producer and entrepreneur as he owns his own studio. He makes very diverse rap music that mixes elements of both mainstream and underground sounds. His music can fit lots of different vibes and be played almost anywhere. We got the chance to catch up with ABU earlier this week and decided to ask him “What do you enjoy most about being an artist?” He had this to say. “ I love being able to make literally anything that I want. I can use any beat that goes with my current mood and say whatever is on my mind. There is so much freedom to express my emotions in music.” We found this to be a great answer as some artists love the lifestyles and other things that come along with the career as an artist. ABU is focused on only one thing, The music itself! He loves to innovate different sounds through beats made by both him and others that fit the specific vibe he is trying to create. The pandemic has been difficult and has put a strain on all of our lives. Lots of artists have struggled to create through the Pandemic with lack of motivation that causes their creative process to slow down or stop completely. We asked ABU ``How has music been throughout the Pandemic?” He responded with this. “On one side it has been a struggle because it is nearly impossible to book shows or convince other artists/producers to meet in person and work. On the other hand, however, it has given me so much time to be alone and just grind. So far during the pandemic, I made 2 or 3 new songs and created an entire album. And for the most part, these are all self-produced in my own studio as well.” This is great news to any fans or new listeners of ABUs music. While everyone else was locked up making excuses ABU got up and got it recording a full album along with 3 new songs. With most of the songs being self produced, We would not be surprised if ABU has created a big beat folder for his productions throughout this whole Pandemic as well. Not being able to perform at shows was probably very tough for ABU as that is one of the favorite things artists love to do. Different artists have various creative inspirations and they usually try to mash together their inspirations sounds to create their very own and unique music. We asked ABU “Who are some of your biggest inspirations?” He had this to say. “ I would have to say a few big inspirations for me are NAV, Lil Durk, YNW Melly, Lil Wayne, Lil Uzi Vert, and a few other current artists. As far as past artists go, I draw a lot of inspiration from NWA, along with Dr Dre and Eminem in their earlier years working together. All in all though, hearing NAV be one of the first to make music successfully as a brown boy motivated me a lot. I always thought that if he can do it, then I can too.” We found this to be a very cool answer as most artists usually only have inspirations from old school music or current music not a blend of both. NAV is a very underrated artist and was a unique name to see on the list as he was in fact the first brown boy to ever make it in the industry. We think ABU will be the second as he takes a competently different branding approach from NAV while still having a similar background. We, like everybody else, do not know what the future holds but we do know that it is important to have a plan in place so that you can take action on it. So we asked ABU “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”. He gave us a short but straightforward answer. “In 5 years I see myself as a well-known name in the music industry singing and producing relevant hits. I see myself as a dual threat in the studio with singing and producing.” We find this to be very possible with both the uniqueness and dedication he has with his craft. Like kanye once said “Reach for the stars but if you fall you’ll land on a cloud” We believe that if ABU comes up short he will fall on a cloud! To this date ABU has over 200 thousand streams across the internet. His most recent song titled “Clever” is available now on all streaming platforms with a music video being on youtube. To end off the article ABU wanted to ask for people to check out his new album titled “Til Death Do us part ‘’ it can be found by simply searching up “ABU” on any major streaming platform. He also has lots of music videos in the vault that he plans on releasing soon. We believe that this album has a lot of potential and we will be keeping up with all of ABUs new releases as you should too!
