Alex Heart is next up out of Italy! Alex does not remember the exact time he started music but remembers music being a main point of his life since the young age of 6. An elementary school teacher was the first person to really notice Alex’s talent and helped him out. The teacher taught music and Alex remembers him coming in the room and asking all of the students to sing a song. Alex decided to sing a song from “Eurovision” which is a talent show similar to American Idol. After the class sang songs the music teacher looked directly at Alex to compliment him and asked Alex if he wanted to sing at festivals which made Alex really want to put the gas pedal on music. Alex does not have a reason for starting music and it just felt right to him the second he experienced it. He said music was the only thing that was capable of giving him joy and is still the only thing giving him joy today. Earlier this week we got the chance to catch up with Alex and decided to ask him a couple more questions about what shapes him as an artist and person.
How old are you?
I’d like to not answer this question. The music industry seems to dislike anyone older than 20 and for me age is just a number. It doesn’t define an artist’s talent or the capacity of changing other’s lives through music. You can feel as many emotions in your 20s as in your 50s etc.
What do you enjoy most about being an artist?
Being an artist gives me the opportunity to connect with people worldwide. People that have been through the same tough times, the same love stories, the same vulnerabilities. Knowing that others have been through the same bad times gives hope , faith and strength. As an artist you can also “transform”, express yourself through words, melodies and clothes which is something I love doing.
How was music through the Pandemic?
For me personally it was great as I had more time to focus on myself and my music. If there’s something I hate is to not have enough time to work on the things I love and the pandemic gave me A LOT of time.
Who are some of your biggest inspirations?
I always say that I don’t want to be a singer, I want to be a performer. That’s why my biggest inspirations are Michael Jackson and Beyoncè.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
The future scares me so I don’t really like to think about it that much. But I would love to perform my own songs in front of big crowds to see how my music connects with souls in front of my eyes.
What makes you stand out most as an Artist?
I seem to connect more with female artists and as a male singer is not something typical, in fact when I was a kid people used to tell me that I sing like a girl. I embraced those words and I love my tone. Having this type of tone allows me to sing almost anything without many issues and I love to experiment with new sounds.
Anything else you want people to know? Any other specifics?
Something no one knows about me YET is that I love to dance and it’s something that will definitely be a big part of my image at some point.
