Dear Me is Taking off! Based in LA and born in Kentucky the 25 year old artist has been making music since 2016. We got the chance to catch up with Dear Me earlier this week and decided to ask him “How did you first start in music?” He had this to say. “I’ve always been involved in music all my life. I always wanted to put out my own music and I was very into poetry and still am so I put both of the things I love together.” We found this to be a very interesting answer as lots of artists nowadays are moving away from more lyrically rap, Dear me is doing the opposite as he is incorporating lyrically lines and catchy words with a new style of music that has never been made before. Different artists enjoy different things about what they do. Some artists like performing live the most while some like the creative process of starting with a blank canvas and turning it into a song and everything in between. We asked Dear Me what he enjoys most about being an artist and he said this. “I enjoy that people can relate to the lyrics I write and I love meeting new people and connecting with them.” Dear Me enjoys giving back to his fans and creating with other artists the most which is great! Networking and showing love to your fans are two of the most important things to do when having a career in the music industry. The Pandemic has affected and put a strain on all of our lives in different ways. Some artists have been very demotivated from the Pandemic while others are working harder than ever. This is why we asked Dear me “How has music been through the Pandmeic?” He had this to say. “ Even though touring has not been a thing, focusing on social media and growing online has been fun. I think I’ve been able to put out more music because of the pandemic.” We are happy to see that Dear me is still working harder than ever to reach his goals. Even though he can not go on tour Dear Me is still finding different ways to grow his fan base further online through social media and other means. Different artists have different inspirations for different reasons. To know a little bit more of what shaped Dear me’s music we asked him “Who are your biggest inspirations?” He had this to say. “ Nothing Nowhere, Hobo Johnson, Arkaeo, Grandview, Woven in Hiatus and September Stories. All of these artists have helped to shape me as an artist.” We find these inspirations to be very prevalent in the type of music Dear Me makes and can tell that these artists helped shape the creative music he makes today. We, like everybody else, do not know what the future holds but we do know that it is important to have a plan outlined or roughly sketched out so you can know if you are reaching your goals. So we asked Dear Me “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” He responded with this. “hopefully still doing what I am right now but on a 100x bigger scale”. Even though this answer is simple and straightforward it gets the point across. Dear Me plans on going nowhere! We believe that this goal is very possible with the unique and interesting music he makes because there is truly nothing out there that is the same as his. To this date Dear me has close to 3 Million streams across all platforms which is generating a solid buzz for him. His most recent song titled “How did we end up like this?” Featuring laeland and Solace is available now on all major streaming platforms. To end off the write up Dear Me had something to say to his fans or anybody else reading this, We decide to leave this competently unedited! “I just want to thank everyone for reading this and finding out a little more about me. If you check out my music and give me a shot It would mean the world to me! In a year you can be like “I was there before he was famous” haha.” You can find Dear Me on instagram at @lukekanipe
