Kinfolk Fross is next up out of Arkansas! The 27 year old artist has been grinding on his music since the age of 10 and is finally knocking on the door. We had the chance to catch up with Kinfolk and decided to ask “How did you start music?” He had this to say. “My oldest brother J Rock used to rap to me and my brother YBScope all the time as kids and it rubbed off on us and once I got a lil older I had my momma buy us a computer so I could learn how to record. I first started recording my music using Audacity and started making beats at the age of 12 using FL Studio.” We found this to be a great answer, With Kinfolk first starting on music at a young age ensures that he is in it for the art and. love for it. Lots of people start making music with hopes of money or fame. Kinfolk is the exact opposite of this. Different artists enjoy different things about what they do. Some artists like performing live the most while others like the creative process of starting with a blank canvas and turning it into a song and everything in between. This is why we asked Kinfolk what he enjoys most about being an artist. He said this to us “Being an engineer and entertaining when I’m doing shows and shooting videos.” We found this answer to be very interesting as Kinfolk likes to use his skills as an artist to also be an audio engineer and cameraman. We think that this helps make Kinfolk’s craft unique since he can have the exact effets that he wants on his vocals instead of an outside source doing it for him. The Pandemic has affected and put a strain on all of our lives in different ways. Some artists have been very demotivated from the Pandemic while others are working harder than ever. This is why we asked Kinfolk “How has music been through the Pandmeic?” He had this to say. “It’s been a lil tough but I always make a way to get things done for my career no matter what and still rocking shoes around the way and making music everyday and filming music videos as well because the grind doesn’t stop unless I do.” We are happy to hear that the Pandemic has not stopped Kinfolk, If anything it has him hitting the gas even more when grinding. To know a little bit more of what shaped Kinfolk’s music we asked him “Who are your biggest inspirations?” He had this to say. “Gucci Mane, Young Dolph, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Biggie Smalls, Dr Dre and Boosie.” We find these inspirations to be more than prevalent in Kinfolk’s music as he mixes both old school lyrics with the new school beats and flows. We, like everybody else, do not know what the future holds but we do know that it is important to have a plan outlined or roughly sketched out so you can know if you are reaching your goals. So we asked Kill Bryant ``Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” He responded with this. “Somewhere living lavishly and my best life on top of the world with my family somewhere on an island after I achieve all my goals I manifest.” We find these goals to be more than possible if Kinfolk keeps up both his hardwork and determination. To this date Kinfolk’s most recent song out is titled “Message” and is available on all major streaming platforms! To end off the article Kinfolk Fross had one last thing to say to his fans or anybody else reading this, We decide to leave this competently unedited! “My sound is edgy, driven and direct, echoing the work of contemporary legends and classic rappers alike. My music really blurs the lines between different styles and techniques, often bringing the best of different worlds together — from the grit of the old school, to the punch and feel of the modern day. For this reason, the artist’s rap tunes sound timeless, and any hip-hop fan will immediately connect with them.”
