Smugluv, a 24 year old rising artist based out of Fairfax, Virginia, aspires to make his mark and create a name for himself in the music industry. Smugluv’s interest in music dates back as far as when he was a kid singing in his church choir and enjoying poetry. When Smugluv was 11, he picked up drumming and music writing, and he began to truly understand his musical abilities. Music plays a big role in his life, and he’s always had dreams of being, “recognized for music that resonates with the world.” Now at age 24, Smugluv can confidently say,”I think what makes me stand out the most is having a unique and distinctive sound that matches lofi and melodic beast perfectly.” Smugluv’s music attracts listeners who enjoy all kinds of genres because Smugluv considers himself more of an alternative artist than a rapper. 90’s R&B serves as an inspiration for Smugluv, as well as Dave Chapelle and anime. Smugluv created his name from the anime show “Jujutsu Kaisen.” In the studio, Smugluv plays a beat for about 30 minutes straight while freestyling a hook and flow. “The thrill of creating new sounds is probably my favorite part about being an artist. If it weren’t for the ability to create I don’t know where I’d end up honestly.” Needless to say, the pandemic in 2020 halted Smugluv’s music career because it was hard for him to get studio time, and even harder for him to have shows. “Being trapped inside does something to the mind in both positive and negative ways for artists and producers.” Fortunately, Smugluv was able to get work done in his home studio. His most recent single is “Moving West’’ ft. Graniizo, and it’s released on all DSP’s. He currently has an estimate of 2,000 streams, and his streams continue to increase as he releases new music. Even though Smugluv is growing as an artist, he still has ”high aspirations’’ for his future. “I just want people to embrace the passion, pain, and party life that I bring to the listeners.” Smugluv continues to love writing lyrics and spreading his music to the world with hopes that it will resonate with each of his listeners in their own way.
